Moberly Area Community College will present a Veteran’s Day Program on Thursday, November 9th beginning at 11 a.m. at the MACC Auditorium on the Moberly Campus.
The main speaker will be Staff Sergeant Matt Everts, who served in the United States Marine Corps for ten years. Staff Sergeant Everts served in Japan; Thailand; Puerto Rico; Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Mount Clemens, MI; and the Naval Amphibious Assault Aircraft Carrier USS Bataan. Since his military service, Everts has been employed at the City of Moberly, as the Chief Operator of the Water Filtration Plant for the past fifteen years.
Military Service is generational for the Everts family. Everts met his wife, Stefanie, while serving in Okinawa, Japan. They have been married for 21 years and have two children. Stefanie was also a Marine Corps Staff Sergeant, and she served for 8 years. Their son, Skyler, is currently a Lance Corporal serving in the Marine Corps at Twentynine Palms, California.
The ceremony will include the posting of the colors by MHS JROTC, under the direction of LTC (R) Christopher A. Lambert, Senior Army Instructor. The National Anthem and additional music will be performed by Denise Caldarello, MACC Trustee.
Some light refreshments will be served following the ceremony. The service is open to the public.
