Moberly’s 150th birthday is next year.  You may have heard that the kickoff will be Friday, January 15, 2016.  This event will be held at the Municipal Auditorium at 6 p.m.  Details are still being finalized, but everyone is invited to attend.  The date was picked to coordinate with an event being sponsored by Moberly Area Community College.  A reunion celebrating the MACC Greyhounds that played under Maury John and Cotton Fitzsimmons from 1946-1967, including all four national champion teams.  The event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the 1966 National Championship.  The Greyhounds have been invited to come to the auditorium for the Sesquicentennial kickoff and to be recognized for their part in Moberly’s history.  Their reunion continues on Saturday with breakfast at the Fourth Street Theater, a tour of downtown, and a campus tour.  The Lady Hounds and Greyhound will host Mineral Area that Saturday night, with highlights shown between the games and a celebration at halftime of the men’s game.  What a great way to start off Moberly’s 150th birthday celebration!  Mark your calendars for these first events!
