Moberly’s Holiday Activities & Attractions 2023

Christmastime is one of our favorite times of the year in Moberly and we absolutely love all of the activities that we can do in the area. The holiday season in Moberly begins late November and runs until January 7. Come join us in Moberly this holiday season.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN THE PARK

Hosted by the Moberly Altrusa Club & Moberly Parks and Recreation, Christmas in the Park is a time honored tradition in Moberly. The light display will open on November 26 with a Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00pm. 
The display will run until December 23 nightly. The hours from November 26 – November 30 are from 6-8pm and from December 1 – December 23 it will be from 5-9pm. 
The best part of this activity, besides seeing one of the largest city-owned parks, is that it is completely free to enter. A free will donation is recommended, but not required.

DRIVE THROUGH BETHLEHEM

Are you looking to view a living nativity during Christmas time? This year is your chance to see the Drive Through Bethlehem at Timberlake Christian Church on December 2 & December 3 from 6-8pm each evening. 
This event is free to attend. Don’t miss your chance to see this event as it only happens every other year!

MOBERLY’S CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL

This event started in 2019 to combine two classic Moberly events (Living Windows & Moberly’s Christmas Parade) into an one day event. 
Today, it is held annually on the first Saturday in December and has expanded to have over 8,000 attendees at the event in 2022, being one of the largest Christmas events in Mid-Missouri. 
This event includes a Christmas parade, vendors, food trucks, local shopping, local dining, pictures with Santa, horse drawn carriage rides, live reindeer, Mayor’s Tree Lighting and more.

MOBERLY MEGA TREE

This giant 46 foot tree has over 20,000 music-synchronized pixels. Listen to a Holiday favorite song while viewing this magical show. This attraction is one that you have to see in person and is located at Timberlake Christian Church
This tree has free admission and will begin its display on December 6 and run to December 25. The shows are from 5:30-9pm each evening. 
Don’t miss their food truck nights which will be on December 16 & 17 starting at 5:30pm.

EVENTS AT THE 4TH STREET THEATRE

This holiday season Mid-Missouri’s oldest Vaudville theatre, the 4th Street Theatre will be showing hosting several events throughout the holiday season.  
The first being the Kay Brothers on Wednesday, November 22 at 7:00pm. The cost is $20 per person. 
Following that event they will be showing National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation on Saturday, November 25 at 7pm. The cost is $10 to watch the movie. Popcorn is included.
The 4th Street Players will be hosting the musical, the Best Christmas Pageant Ever on December 1 and 2. This comedy features “the worst kids in the world” taking over the annual church Christmas pageant. Shows will be on December 1 at 7:00p.m. and during Moberly’s Christmas Festival on December 2 at 11:00a.m. and 7:00p.m. 
Following this event they will be showing White Christmas during their Classic Movie Night series. Tickets are only $10 and include popcorn. 
Wrapping up the season the Moberly Arts Council will host the Boonslick Chordbusters and the Sweet Adelines on Saturday, December 9 and 10 at the 4th Street Theatre.

THE FROSTY 5K

Hosted by Moberly Parks and Recreation the Frosty 5K has been a holiday staple event of Moberly for over 26 years. 
This year’s event will be held on December 8, 2023 at Lodge in Rothwell Park. 
Runners or walkers will have the opportunity to race through the twinkling light display. Doors open up at 5pm and the race starts at 6pm. Registration is $25 (before December 1st) and $30 for regular registration. 
The registration fee covers a free t-shirt, hot cocoa and snacks.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

Are you looking to honor our veterans this holiday season? Randolph County has a Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, just 15 minutes North of Moberly. 
The Wreaths Across America Program is a national event where volunteers place wreaths on veteran’s graves. 
This event will be hosted on Saturday, December 16 at 11:00 am. More than 3,500 locations across the United States will participate in this event. To volunteer contact 660-372-6024 for details.

PICTURES WITH SANTA

Moberly has two opportunities to have children take photos with Santa. The first being during Moberly’s Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 2. 
This pictures will happen at the Moberly Fire Department at 310 North Clark Street from 3:45pm – 5:00pm. Make sure to bring your own camera for these images. 
Unable to attend the Christmas Festival? Santa will be at the Lodge in Rothwell Park from 5:30-8:00pm from December 13 – 16. On Saturday, December 16 they will have a special cocoa and cookies with Santa during this event. Photos are free at both locations.

THE ICE RINK AT THE FENNEL

Brand new this year Moberly will be bringing an synthetic ice rink to its downtown. This rink will be located at the Fennel, 315 N Clark Street and be open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday starting on Black Friday, November 24  and run until January 1, 2024. The cost is $6 per person, per hour, which includes skate rentals or $10 for two hours. Private rentals are available. Learn more about this rink here.
